Communication training

Communication training for teams that need to talk straight

Most communication training fails because it stays theoretical. This training is built around practice: the real conversations people avoid, the feedback they soften too much, and the moments where a small misunderstanding becomes a bigger problem.

Who it is for

This is useful when…

  • Teams that avoid difficult conversations until they escalate
  • Managers who need to give clearer feedback
  • Teams working across departments or countries
  • Customer-facing teams handling tension and complaints
  • Organisations where people say “yes” but do not follow through
  • Teams that need a shared language for disagreement

What we work on

You will practise the conversation you are avoiding.

01

Difficult conversations

How to prepare, open, stay in the conversation, and close with a clear next step — without over-softening or escalating.

02

Feedback that lands

Specific, timely, behavioural feedback that gives the other person something they can actually do something with.

03

Listening under pressure

How to listen when you disagree, when you are busy, or when the other person is emotional — without losing the thread.

04

Escalation and handovers

When to handle an issue directly, when to involve a manager, and how to hand work over without losing context.

How it works

Diagnose, practise, apply, reinforce.

01

Diagnose

A short conversation about the communication patterns that are causing the most friction.

02

Practise

Scenario-based exercises using situations from your own team, with structured feedback.

03

Apply

Participants leave with a small number of practical tools and a commitment to use them at work.

04

Reinforce

An optional follow-up session to review what changed and where people are still getting stuck.

A practice scenario

What participants actually do in the room.

Every exercise uses a situation from your team, not a case study from a textbook. Participants rehearse, get feedback, and run it again — which is why the behaviour survives the week.

  • A real conversation, written out exactly as it usually goes wrong
  • One participant plays themselves; another plays the person they avoid
  • Structured feedback on what worked and what escalated
  • A second attempt, with a clear next step at the end

Formats

Formats and group size

  • 3-hour, half-day, or full-day training
  • Typically 6–15 participants
  • On-site across Europe, or online
  • Modules can be combined or adapted to the team

Outcomes

What people can do afterwards

  • More direct conversations, earlier
  • Clearer feedback and fewer assumptions
  • A shared vocabulary for disagreement
  • Better handovers and escalation decisions

FAQ

Practical questions

Is this training generic or tailored?

It is tailored. We use your team's real situations for the practice scenarios. The frameworks are consistent, but the content is adapted to the group, the sector, and the level of experience.

Can training be delivered in modules?

Yes. A common format is a short core session followed by practice sessions several weeks apart, so people can try the tools in between.

Do participants receive materials?

Yes. Participants receive a concise practical summary and the exercises used in the session. There is no thick manual that nobody reads.

Can we combine communication training with team workshops?

Yes. Many engagements combine a team workshop with a shorter communication training module, especially when the team needs both a reset and new skills.

Next step

Start with one conversation.

A short conversation is enough to decide whether training is the right fit, what the group needs, and how many sessions make sense.
